About Organisation

Fondation Tutator is a Switzerland-based non-profit organization and a part of the Tutator Group. With a strong foundation in both Silicon Valley engineering and global human rights initiatives, the organization leverages advanced technology to drive meaningful social impact. Their mission revolves around empowering mission-driven organizations through custom-built digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and beneficiary outcomes. Fondation Tutator specializes in developing tailored software that addresses pressing issues in sectors like justice, health, youth empowerment, environmental conservation, and food security. Unlike commercial tech firms, Tutator’s work is focused on amplifying the social good, supporting organizations that may lack the technical infrastructure to build such solutions in-house. The team collaborates closely with NGOs and social enterprises to co-create platforms that serve the unique needs of each partner. By offering these high-impact digital tools, the foundation helps partner organizations scale their impact, streamline operations, and deliver improved services to their communities. With a deep commitment to innovation and ethical technology use, Fondation Tutator stands out as a valuable ally to changemakers worldwide, ensuring that technology is not a barrier but a bridge toward greater social equity and justice.

About the Grant

Tutator Forward is a unique grant initiative by Fondation Tutator, offering custom software development instead of financial funding to socially and environmentally impactful organizations. Designed for mission-driven entities, this global program provides fully customized software solutions tailored to each organization’s operational needs. The goal is to strengthen service delivery, improve program management, and enhance the overall effectiveness of grantees through technology. Tutator’s expert team works closely with selected organizations to develop platforms focused on direct program impact, such as case tracking systems, health record tools, or conservation monitoring solutions. The typical scope of work ranges from 5,000 to 20,000 hours—valued between $75,000 and $1,000,000 USD—delivered over a 4 to 12-month period. The development journey includes requirement analysis, iterative software creation and testing, training for implementation, system deployment, and six months of post-launch support. In return, selected organizations are expected to dedicate 3–5 hours weekly to collaborate in defining needs, testing solutions, and ensuring successful adoption. This initiative emphasizes sustainability, requiring applicants to plan for ongoing software maintenance and technical support after the grant period. Through Tutator Forward, organizations gain access to powerful digital infrastructure designed specifically to support and scale their social impact.

Who can Apply?

Tutator Forward welcomes applications from organizations across the globe that are committed to creating social or environmental change. Eligible applicants must be mission-driven entities—such as NGOs, non-profits, or social enterprises—actively working in sectors like education, healthcare, governance, access to justice, environmental protection, and more. Applicants should demonstrate a clear need for a customized software solution to improve their operations, streamline service delivery, and enhance beneficiary management. Organizations must be prepared to actively participate throughout the software development process by dedicating at least 3 to 5 hours per week to key activities, including defining system requirements, providing feedback, coordinating internal efforts, and overseeing adoption. Furthermore, applicants must assign individuals to specific roles such as a Team Leader (main point of contact), a System Administrator (to manage configurations and maintenance), and a First-Level Support representative (to handle basic technical queries). A critical requirement is the availability of the necessary IT infrastructure—such as servers, computers, and network access—to support software implementation. Additionally, applying organizations must submit a sustainability plan, showing how they will maintain, host, and support the software post-development. The ideal applicants are those ready to embrace digital transformation and committed to long-term impact measurement and efficiency improvement.
