About the Grant

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be full-time PhD students enrolled in recognized universities in regions including Africa, Australia, Canada, East Asia, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and the United States. Students must be nominated by their university to be considered for the fellowship. The program is open to candidates from all backgrounds conducting research in computer science or closely related disciplines. Applicants must not be current or former Google employees, nor have immediate family members working at Google. Additionally, students already receiving similar support from industry-sponsored awards are not eligible, though government or non-profit funding does not disqualify them. Previous recipients of the Google PhD Fellowship are not allowed to reapply. Selected candidates must maintain full-time PhD enrollment throughout the duration of the fellowship.

How to Apply?

Eligible PhD students must be nominated by an official university representative. Direct applications from students are not accepted. Nominations should be submitted online through the university.

University representatives must submit their nominations no later than 11:59:59 PM AoE (UTC-12) on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Grant Amount
Selected fellows will receive financial support along with the opportunity to be mentored by a Google Research expert during the course of their PhD studies.
