About Organisation
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, is responsible for promoting renewable energy development and adoption across the country. The Ministry supports programmes covering solar, wind, bioenergy, hydrogen and other renewable technologies. MNRE also promotes research, development, demonstration and deployment of renewable energy technologies through dedicated programmes. Its Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme supports technology development and practical applications of renewable energy. Through this current call, MNRE is encouraging the development and deployment of concentrating solar thermal technology for Indian industries, particularly solutions capable of providing clean heat for industrial processes.
About the Grant
The MNRE Concentrating Solar Thermal Technology Grant 2026 invites proposals for using concentrating solar thermal (CST) technology in Indian industry. The initiative focuses on industrial process heating and aims to encourage commercially viable and scalable solutions that can reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Proposed activities may include pilot and demonstration projects, identification of suitable industrial applications, development of best practices and guidelines, and wider deployment of solar thermal green-heat solutions. MNRE provides financial assistance of up to 50% of eligible project costs, subject to a maximum assistance limit of ₹2 crore per project.
Who can Apply?
The opportunity is intended for organisations working with concentrating solar thermal technologies and industrial applications. Eligible applicants include industries involved in manufacturing, developing, deploying or using solar thermal technologies. Start-ups, private institutes and entrepreneurs can also receive financial support under the programme. Beneficiary industries using solar thermal systems may participate through consortium arrangements where applicable. Proposed projects should demonstrate relevance to industrial process heating and the development, deployment or utilisation of scalable solar thermal solutions. Applicants must follow MNRE’s prescribed technical, institutional and project requirements.
How to Apply?
Eligible organisations should prepare project proposals according to the MNRE Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme requirements. Applications are submitted online through the designated MNRE research portal. Proposals should explain the proposed solar thermal technology, industrial application, project activities, expected outcomes, implementation approach and financial requirements. Applicants should review the official call documents carefully and ensure that all required information and supporting documents are submitted before the closing date.
