About the Grant

The Summer 2025 Google Policy Fellowship is a fully funded opportunity for students interested in public policy and technology. It connects fellows with influential organizations working on cutting-edge internet policy issues. The program runs from June to August 2025, allowing participants to contribute directly to research, advocacy, and policy formulation.

Fellows will be placed at top public interest organizations in Washington, D.C., where they will engage in critical discussions around internet governance, digital rights, and emerging technology regulations. They will work on policy briefs, conduct legislative research, and analyze global technology trends. The fellowship is available in full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (20 hours/week) roles, with stipends of $12,000 and $6,000, respectively.

Host organizations will determine whether fellows work remotely or in person. Candidates are encouraged to apply early, as selections are made on a rolling basis. This program is ideal for students aiming to gain policy experience while contributing to impactful technology initiatives.

Who can Apply?

This fellowship is open to students with a strong interest in technology policy. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited institution, including undergraduate, master’s, PhD programs, or law schools.
  • Be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2025.
  • Be eligible and authorized to work in the country where the fellowship placement is based (Google does not provide work authorization assistance).
  • Have not previously participated as a Google Policy Fellow.

Preferred Candidates Should:

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in internet governance, technology law, and digital rights.
  • Possess strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The program welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, including political science, law, public policy, and technology-related disciplines.

Candidates can apply to up to two host organizations. The application will only be submitted upon final confirmation.
