Sensing Local Foundation, based in Bengaluru, is an Urban Living Lab (ULL) aimed at fostering city innovation, observation, and learning to improve environmental and public health outcomes. The foundation operates as a model for urban transformation, accelerating impact through informed experimentation and collaboration. By engaging with the ecosystem of city decision-makers, Sensing Local Foundation seeks to break the cycle of fragmented and short-sighted urban development, pushing for more cohesive and sustainable solutions.
About the Fellowship
The Street Lab Fellowship Program is a 4-month, hands-on opportunity for young practitioners and students passionate about climate action and walkability. This fellowship is part of the Walkable Kochi project, where fellows will conduct walkability audits across 74 wards in Kochi, working alongside local communities and student volunteers. The program will involve data analysis and the design of solutions for street typologies. Fellows will dedicate 20 hours per week to community engagement, volunteer management, and documenting street profiles. Upon completion, fellows will receive a stipend of Rs 8,000 per month and a certificate.
Who can Apply?
The fellowship is open to young professionals and students between 21 and 35 years of age who reside in Kochi. Applicants should be fluent in Malayalam and English, with a passion for climate action, walkability, and participatory urban planning. Fellows must be willing to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week, including weekends, to field audits, community interactions, and documentation tasks. This opportunity requires proactive, hands-on involvement in street assessments.
