About Organisation
The U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global) is a nonprofit organization that fosters international collaboration in science, technology, and innovation. It promotes the development of safer, more secure, and sustainable global systems. CRDF Global supports projects aimed at addressing global challenges, such as nuclear security, environmental sustainability, and policy development. The foundation operates worldwide, facilitating partnerships between professionals and institutions to strengthen security, policy-making, and technical capabilities. Its mission includes empowering emerging leaders, particularly women, to drive change in critical fields like nuclear security. Through programs like the Robin Copeland Memorial Fellowship, CRDF Global aims to contribute to global peace, security, and technological advancement by supporting the career development of early-to-mid-career professionals, especially those in underrepresented sectors.
About the Grant
The Robin Copeland Memorial Fellowship (RCMF) is a five-month program designed to support women in the nuclear security field from the Indo-Pacific region. The fellowship, conducted by CRDF Global, comprises three phases: a virtual onboarding, a one-month immersive fellowship with partner institutions, and a final capstone workshop. This fellowship aims to enhance leadership skills and provide hands-on experience in nuclear security while fostering connections with peers. The capstone project allows participants to focus on nuclear security-related research within their home institutions or communities. Fellows will have opportunities to showcase their research in professional development sessions and at notable regional or global events. The program specifically targets early-to-mid-career women in nuclear security, with a focus on leadership, technical expertise, and policy-making in the nuclear sector.
Who can Apply?
The Robin Copeland Memorial Fellowship is open to early-to-mid-career women from the Indo-Pacific region with technical or policy nuclear backgrounds. Applicants should have at least two years of relevant, nuclear-focused professional experience. Women leaders or emerging professionals with an interest in nuclear security are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will be self-directed, able to work in a cross-cultural setting, and interested in developing a project focused on nuclear security. Applicants must have an institutional sponsor—either their immediate supervisor or upper management—who will provide support for their participation in the fellowship. The sponsor’s letter must confirm their commitment to the applicant’s professional development and the fellowship duration. The fellowship emphasizes leadership development, collaboration, and practical project implementation within the nuclear security domain.
