About Organisation

The Next Generation Foresight Practitioners (NGFP) is a global network launched in 2018 by the School of International Futures (SOIF). With over 900 members from diverse regions and disciplines, NGFP empowers individuals who use futures and foresight methodologies to drive systemic and social transformation worldwide. From influencing technology and governance to shaping food systems and urban environments, NGFP members tackle some of the most pressing global challenges. The initiative is rooted in SOIF’s expertise in impactful foresight work and its expansive network of professionals and thought leaders. NGFP provides its members with resources like mentorship, funding, capacity building, and opportunities for global collaboration. It also promotes media visibility and facilitates connections with key decision-makers to scale their impact. The core mission of NGFP is to democratize the foresight space by ensuring that young, diverse voices actively participate in shaping equitable and inclusive futures. Through fostering innovation, collaboration, and long-term thinking, NGFP enables change-makers to navigate uncertainty and influence policy, systems, and communities for the better.

About the Grant

The NGFP Fellowship is a year-long opportunity designed for early-career foresight practitioners to deepen their impact through training, funding, and community support. The program begins with a USD 1,000 kick-starter fund to support a pioneering project that leverages foresight for social or environmental good. Selected fellows gain access to foresight training, a dedicated project partner, and ongoing capacity building through workshops and resources. The Fellowship connects participants to a vibrant global platform of like-minded individuals, allowing for peer collaboration and professional growth. Throughout the year, fellows receive regular updates about grants, global events, and opportunities for further development. Additionally, they may become part of thematic or regional hubs to strengthen local networks. At the end of the year, fellows can compete for a grand prize of USD 10,000, awarded to the participant who demonstrates the most significant progress and contribution to the NGFP community. Only 25 fellows are selected annually, but many top applicants are also invited to join the wider NGFP Sensing Network, gaining access to a wide array of long-term benefits and collaboration possibilities. The fellowship is ideal for those with visionary projects aimed at creating systemic and sustainable change.

Who can Apply?

The NGFP Fellowship is open to individuals and teams who are beginning their journey in futures and foresight. Eligible applicants must be aged between 18 and 35 or, if older, have less than one year of experience in the field. Ideal candidates are young professionals who are passionate about learning, community building, and leveraging foresight to address social or environmental challenges. Applicants should have a clear, courageous, and future-oriented project idea capable of driving systemic transformation within their communities or at a global scale. NGFP values applicants who are collaborative in nature, committed to long-term impact (envisioning at least 10 years ahead), and actively seeking to expand their knowledge and networks. The fellowship is especially interested in voices from underrepresented regions, including Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, and the Balkans. Both individual and team applications are accepted, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. NGFP seeks forward-thinking changemakers who use foresight to envision and build inclusive, resilient, and equitable futures, regardless of their professional background or academic qualifications.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must complete and submit their online application form before the deadline. Applicants are required to present a compelling foresight-based project idea, demonstrate their commitment to community collaboration, and show readiness for a year-long learning journey.
