About Organisation
The UNCCD G20 Global Land Initiative (GLI) was launched by G20 Leaders in 2020 to prevent, halt, and reverse land degradation while enhancing the conservation of terrestrial habitats. The initiative promotes sustainable land management by sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovative restoration approaches across countries. Working alongside global partners, it supports ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Through collaboration with governments, research institutions, civil society, and the private sector, the initiative strengthens global efforts to restore degraded landscapes, build local capacity, encourage investment, and contribute to international environmental commitments under the Rio Conventions.
About the Grant
The Nature-Positive Actions Transforming Lives and Landscapes 2026 initiative invites real-world stories that demonstrate successful land restoration and nature-positive solutions. Organized by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNCCD G20 Global Land Initiative, and WOCAT, the programme aims to showcase projects delivering measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits. Selected stories will be professionally edited and published in a global digital publication, launched at UNCCD COP17, while also being featured at major international events. The initiative highlights scalable restoration models that support biodiversity conservation, ecosystem recovery, climate action, sustainable livelihoods, and long-term landscape resilience.
