About the Grant
The KNCF Grant Program provides financial support for biodiversity conservation projects across the Asia-Pacific region and Japan. The program offers four grant categories: Basic A Grant, which funds small-scale projects up to 1 million Yen for first-time applicants; Basic B Grant, which supports small projects by grassroots organizations in UN-designated Least Developed Countries; Standard Grant, offering up to 10 million Yen for mid-sized projects that introduce new approaches to solving environmental problems; and Collaboration Grant, a large-scale grant of up to 20 million Yen for collaborative projects involving multiple organizations, including governments and businesses. The grants focus on projects that address biodiversity preservation, social issues related to environmental conservation, and human resource development for biodiversity.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants for the KNCF Grant Program are organizations that have been conducting nature conservation projects for at least three years. These can be incorporated entities or voluntary organizations with credibility equivalent to that of incorporated organizations. Applicants must be able to report on their activities, budgets, and financial status accurately as required by KNCF. The activities must be focused on the preservation of biodiversity, tackling social issues that contribute to environmental conservation, or providing environmental education and human resource development related to biodiversity. Projects should be based in the Asia-Pacific region or Japan. For organizations applying for the Collaboration Grant, projects must involve cooperation between multiple entities to achieve higher-level results and should serve as models for collaboration between NGOs, governments, and businesses.
How to Apply?
Submit an application detailing your project, budget, and required documents, including proof of incorporation and a record of conservation activities. Applications are open annually.
