Funding Bold Ideas for Youth Mental Health 2025

Application Deadline:
17 June 2025
About Organisation
Being is an organization committed to advancing the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 10 to 24, especially those who are underserved. Their approach focuses on early intervention, prevention, and systemic change. Being operates through three main pillars: Learn, Invest, and Mobilize. They believe learning drives system-level transformation, funding research to understand mental health needs and guide innovation. Through investment, they support youth-led organizations testing new ideas and scaling successful interventions. By mobilizing resources and fostering collaboration among governments, communities, and funding partners, Being seeks to dismantle structural barriers to sustainable mental health support. Their initiatives aim to address social, economic, and environmental challenges that affect youth mental wellbeing, especially in urban and peri-urban contexts. Being’s long-term vision is to integrate mental health promotion into broader education and care systems, leveraging youth-friendly platforms and cross-sector partnerships.
About the Grant
The “Funding Bold Ideas for Youth Mental Health 2025” initiative by Being supports innovative, early-stage solutions that promote and prevent mental health issues among underserved youth aged 10–24. Through Proof of Concept (POC) and Transition to Scale (TTS) funding, the grant aims to identify, test, and expand context-specific interventions that are youth-friendly and integrated within local education and social systems. POC grants support bold ideas in their initial stages, focusing on youth-led organizations, while TTS grants help scale solutions that have already demonstrated impact. Innovations can include technological, social, or business models that address intersecting social issues such as gender inequality, stigma, discrimination, and limited youth agency. Projects must take into account the developmental needs of different age groups within the 10–24 range and prioritize urban or peri-urban settings in one of 12 specified countries. The funding supports interventions that meet youth where they are, particularly through non-health mechanisms such as schools or community-based models.
Who can Apply?
Legally incorporated organizations from any country are eligible, provided their project is implemented in one of Being’s 12 priority countries: India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, Morocco, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Tanzania. Preference will be given to youth-led organizations (where 50% or more of leadership are under age 35) based in these priority countries. Also eligible are organizations from low- and middle-income countries working in partnership with local organizations in any of the 12 countries. Proposals must focus on prevention and promotion of youth mental health—not treatment. Projects must support underserved youth and align with the developmental needs of target age groups (10–24). Ineligible projects include those focused on clinical treatment, those implemented outside the priority countries, and those where intellectual property is not sufficiently accessible for scaling in low- and middle-income regions.
