About the Grant

The Entangled Ecosystems Grant II is an art and ecology grant in India organised by Science Gallery Bengaluru in collaboration with Shared Ecologies, a programme supported by the Shyama Foundation. The initiative invites artists and collectives to develop an original exhibition inspired by scientific research on human–nonhuman coexistence. The selected participant will collaborate with cognitive ethologist Dr. Anindya “Rana” Sinha to explore biodiversity, ecological adaptation, shared ecosystems, and environmental sustainability. By combining field research, scientific knowledge, and creative practice, the grant promotes interdisciplinary innovation and public engagement with ecological issues through contemporary art.

Who can Apply?

The grant is open to emerging and established Indian artists, artist collectives, and practitioners from diverse disciplines. Applicants must be Indian nationals with an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, ecological research, and creative experimentation. Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, a research-driven approach, and openness to engaging with different knowledge systems beyond their primary field. Experience in collaborative projects is desirable but not mandatory. Applicants should be willing to work alongside scientists and use research materials, field observations, biodiversity studies, and community knowledge to create an innovative exhibition exploring coexistence between humans and nonhuman life.

How to Apply?

Applicants must submit their project proposal, artist or collective statement, curriculum vitae or biography, and visual references of previous work, where available. Applications should clearly explain the proposed exhibition concept, research approach, and alignment with the programme’s ecological themes. All required documents must be submitted before the deadline through the designated application platform. Incomplete or late submissions may not be considered.
