About the Fellowship

The CRASSH Visiting Fellowships provide a unique opportunity for scholars from the Global South to engage in collaborative research at the University of Cambridge. These Fellowships, specifically for Lent Term 2026, are focused on the theme of “Science, Politics, and Justice.” The Fellowships encourage research on the intersection of science, politics, and justice, addressing critical issues such as anticolonialism, antiracism, climate justice, and more. Fellows will have access to the University’s extensive resources, including libraries, collections, and seminars, as well as a collaborative environment designed to foster future partnerships. Fellows are expected to design an event related to the theme and present their research. The Fellowship offers a three-month in-person residency followed by a nine-month digital engagement, enabling continued access to Cambridge’s academic resources and events.

Who can Apply?

Up to three Visiting Fellows will be selected each year from different countries in the Global South. Applicants must have a research proposal that aligns with the theme of “Science, Politics, and Justice,” exploring topics such as the ethics of scientific knowledge, climate justice, indigenous rights, and the role of science in policing, war, and crime prevention. The Fellowship is open to scholars from various disciplines, including anthropology, philosophy, sociology, ecology, medical humanities, and more. Successful applicants must be affiliated with higher education institutions in the Global South. Applicants should demonstrate the potential for impactful research and the ability to contribute to the scholarly discussions at CRASSH and the Department of History and Philosophy of Science.
