About Organisation
Rao Family Trust (RAFT) is supporting technology-driven solutions through its TechForGood initiative, with a focus on using artificial intelligence to address significant social challenges. Through its AI for Transformative Social Impact grant opportunity, RAFT is seeking organisations that have AI at the core of their solutions and can demonstrate meaningful, measurable and responsible impact. The initiative focuses particularly on agriculture, healthcare, disability inclusion and frontline support. RAFT indicates a preference for organisations operating in Maharashtra and is interested in solutions with potential for scale and longer-term impact. The initiative is designed for organisations that are already applying AI to real-world social challenges.
About the Grant
The AI for Transformative Social Impact Grant provides funding of up to ₹50 lakh, with the possibility of multi-year support. RAFT is looking for AI-native solutions addressing significant social challenges in agriculture, healthcare, disability inclusion and frontline support. AI must be a central component of the proposed solution and should be used responsibly, ethically and measurably. The opportunity does not focus on general AI awareness, digital literacy, content generation or solutions where AI is only a minor feature. Recent communication from RAFT also indicates that organisations should have already deployed AI solutions and demonstrated measurable impact.
Who can Apply?
Organisations in India developing and deploying AI-native solutions for social impact can apply, with a preference indicated for Maharashtra. Applicants should have AI integrated centrally into their solution and demonstrate measurable outcomes. Relevant areas include agriculture, healthcare, disability inclusion and frontline support. RAFT is not considering proposals focused solely on AI awareness, generic generative-AI training, content generation, translation, productivity enhancement or solutions where AI is a minor component. The latest RAFT update further states that organisations should already have deployed AI solutions and demonstrated measurable impact; education proposals are not being considered under this call.
How to Apply?
Eligible organisations should prepare a proposal describing their AI-native solution, social-impact problem, existing deployment, measurable results and potential for scale. Applicants should demonstrate how AI is central to the solution and explain its responsible and ethical use. Organisations should review the official RAFT call information and submit their proposal through the application process specified by the Rao Family Trust before the stated deadline.
