About Organisation
The Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund) is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting scientific research and the dissemination of knowledge in arboriculture and urban forestry. About the Grant
The Jack Kimmel International Grant Program 2026 provides research funding to applicants whose work is primarily conducted outside the United States. The programme honours Jack Kimmel, a former Director of Parks for the City of Toronto and a long-serving leader in the International Society of Arboriculture. Administered by TREE Fund in cooperation with the Canadian TREE Fund, the programme supports research relevant to arboriculture and urban forestry. Projects are expected to be completed within one to two years, with individual awards capped at US$10,000.
Who can Apply?
The programme is intended for researchers conducting arboriculture or urban forestry research primarily outside the United States. Proposed projects should address topics relevant to the TREE Fund’s focus areas and the needs of the arboriculture community. TREE Fund welcomes proposals from a broad range of academic and technical disciplines and both qualitative and quantitative approaches. However, the programme does not fund grants to individuals, primarily municipal tree surveys or assessments, tree-planting programmes, traditional forestry/timber-production studies, agroforestry, or research focused on natural-area ecology and conservation.
