Application Deadline:
9 January 2025
About Organisation
The ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities) is a global network of universities and higher education institutions across the Commonwealth, dedicated to fostering collaboration and advancing knowledge across diverse regions. The ACU supports its members through a wide range of programs that enhance education, research, and community engagement, with a particular focus on global challenges. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the ACU operates the Commonwealth Climate Resilience Network (CCRN), which brings together universities to address climate change and its impacts on societies. By leveraging the collective expertise of member institutions, the ACU works to build resilience in communities, governments, businesses, and universities themselves, promoting climate action through innovative initiatives and partnerships.
About the Grant
The ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants aim to support initiatives within ACU member universities that address climate resilience. These grants fund projects that align with the two strategic priorities of the Commonwealth Climate Resilience Network: enhancing the climate resilience of universities and strengthening their contribution to the resilience of broader communities, businesses, and governments. The grants encourage collaboration among ACU members and other institutions, enabling universities to develop and share innovative solutions for climate adaptation. The projects funded by these grants focus on various areas such as climate change education, research capacity building, and improving institutional resilience policies. Past initiatives have included projects like sea-temperature monitoring in Fiji and integrating indigenous climate adaptation practices in New Zealand.
Who can Apply?
The ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants are open to academic and professional staff employed at ACU member universities. Applicants must submit their proposals through the online application form available on the ACU’s portal. Collaboration with other ACU member institutions is encouraged, and applications that involve partnerships with non-member institutions are also considered. Proposals that include matching or additional funds from the applicant’s institution are highly regarded. These grants are intended to support projects that promote climate resilience through research, teaching, training, and policy development at universities, contributing to broader community and governmental resilience.
How to Apply?
Staff members of ACU member universities can apply through the online application form. If you do not have a MyACU account, register for one before accessing the form.
