About Organisation
The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) is committed to conserving and enhancing the world’s wild places. Focusing on landscapes that range from mountains and oceans to peatlands and forests, EOCA emphasizes the conservation of biodiversity and the mitigation of climate change. EOCA supports projects that benefit outdoor enthusiasts, as well as the local communities who live within or near these landscapes. By collaborating with the European outdoor industry, EOCA raises funds to aid conservation initiatives that link directly to responsible outdoor enjoyment. The projects EOCA funds aim to enhance and restore natural environments, support threatened species, and alleviate the harmful impact of climate change. EOCA’s selection process is comprehensive, involving expert reviews and public and member voting. Through this engagement, EOCA not only contributes to conservation but also raises public awareness, enabling project organizations to broaden their reach and rally support for conservation work that addresses both ecological and community well-being.
About the Grant
The EOCA grants fund hands-on conservation projects in wild, non-urban landscapes worldwide, with the exception of the U.S. and Canada, where the Conservation Alliance provides similar funding. EOCA projects emphasize biodiversity preservation and climate resilience, requiring clear links to the outdoor enthusiast. Projects must protect threatened habitats or species, incorporate local community involvement, and implement on-the-ground conservation, such as habitat restoration or anti-poaching efforts. Additionally, EOCA seeks to fund projects that educate local communities and visitors on responsible environmental stewardship. To ensure the long-term impact of each project, EOCA also considers how it benefits local communities and provides a lasting legacy. Funding recipients are chosen through a combination of public voting and EOCA member voting, allowing outdoor enthusiasts and EOCA members to play an active role in project selection, which elevates project visibility and public engagement.
Who can Apply?
EOCA invites applications from registered non-profit organizations focused on nature conservation. Eligible projects must align with EOCA’s priorities, demonstrating clear conservation objectives, measurable impacts, and sustainability plans. Projects are expected to have a tangible impact on biodiversity, specifically focusing on habitats and species under threat. Conservation activities should also be tied to outdoor enthusiasts, aligning with EOCA’s mission to integrate environmental protection with responsible outdoor enjoyment. Applicants must engage local communities, promoting stewardship and education around ecological preservation. All applications must be in English, and the organization should be able to provide at least two recommendations from previous funding sources. EOCA discourages purely research-based or educational projects unless they actively contribute to on-the-ground conservation efforts. Projects will be shortlisted based on EOCA’s detailed scoring criteria, with final funding decisions determined by public and member votes. All applicants should consult EOCA’s detailed criteria to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements and can present their projects effectively.
How to Apply?
Non-profits must submit a completed application, impact table, and supporting documents in English to EOCA by email. Only complete applications will be considered.
Application Deadline
