About Organisation
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation focuses on funding small, grassroots NGOs that work with India’s most vulnerable communities. They believe in putting communities at the heart of development, with a focus on creating sustainable solutions to inequality. Their initiatives aim to empower communities, encourage systemic change, and build local capacity. The Foundation prioritizes funding work that promotes long-term improvements in education, healthcare, and social equity. They seek to partner with organisations that enable vulnerable groups to take charge of their own development and work towards a more inclusive society.
About the Grant
The India Fund of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation supports local NGOs working with vulnerable communities across central India. With grants ranging from ₹10,00,000 to ₹30,00,000, the fund is aimed at fostering community-centric development programs that tackle inequality and promote systemic change. The grant covers a 1 to 2-year period and seeks to strengthen the capacity of organisations working in areas such as education, health, gender equity, and environmental sustainability. The Foundation particularly focuses on regions with extreme poverty and those that lack access to basic services.
Who can Apply?
The India Fund supports local Indian NGOs that have Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. Eligible organisations should be directly involved in community development, particularly with vulnerable groups such as Dalits, women, disabled individuals, and tribal communities. They must be working in the priority geographical areas of central India and promoting long-term social change. NGOs should also have an understanding of their environmental impact and be actively working toward improving local ecological conditions. Applications are open to NGOs promoting gender equality and building community leadership.
How to Apply?
Applications are open year-round with no calls for proposals. NGOs can apply by submitting a written application detailing their community-centric work, and reviewing will follow based on the scale of activities and geographical focus. For organisations applying at a micro-level, the grant focuses on direct community involvement in the designated priority areas.
Application Deadline
The India Fund operates on a rolling application cycle with biannual assessments in March and October.
