About Organisation
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, oversees the Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-orientation (BioCARe) Programme. This initiative is designed to empower female researchers in the biotechnology field by facilitating their career advancement. Managed by the DBT-HRD Project Management Unit (PMU) at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, the program seeks to enhance women’s participation in research and provides them with opportunities to re-enter the scientific community. It focuses on women researchers who are unemployed, helping them secure their first sanctioned extramural research funding. The programme aims to give women a platform to contribute meaningfully to science and technology, thus fostering gender inclusivity in the research ecosystem.
About the Grant
The BioCARe Programme offers financial support for research in various biotech disciplines, including animal, marine, medical, environmental, and agricultural biotechnology. The funding is intended to help women researchers embark on independent research projects, enhancing their participation in scientific advancements. The programme specifically targets unemployed female researchers, offering them the opportunity to lead a project that will mark their first extramural research funding. It also provides a fellowship to support researchers during the project tenure. The grant covers a range of costs, including research materials, equipment, and institutional overheads, ensuring researchers have the resources needed to carry out their projects effectively.
