Green Hub-Royal Enfield Conservation Grants in India
About Organisation
Green Hub, in collaboration with the CSR initiative of Royal Enfield, is an organization dedicated to nurturing youth-led community conservation in the Northeast region of India. With a strong focus on ecological preservation, Green Hub empowers indigenous youth by equipping them with skills, mentorship, and opportunities to initiate impactful change within their communities. The initiative is based in Tezpur and functions as a vibrant ecosystem of learning and collaboration where young individuals from diverse tribal and indigenous backgrounds come together to work towards environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and the preservation of traditional knowledge. Green Hub places a high emphasis on participatory learning, community engagement, and sustainable practices that align with the cultural and ecological fabric of the Northeast. The platform supports a range of creative and practical conservation actions through audiovisual storytelling, capacity-building workshops, and now, project-based conservation grants. With Royal Enfield’s support, the initiative aims to scale up grassroots conservation by offering resources, mentorship, and recognition to those creating change on the ground. By linking community action with long-term sustainability, Green Hub plays a pivotal role in shaping the environmental future of one of India’s most ecologically sensitive regions.
About the Grant
The Green Hub–Royal Enfield Conservation Grants 2024 are designed to support youth from indigenous communities and alumni of Green Hub who are either engaged in or planning to begin community-based conservation projects in Northeast India. These grants serve as a catalyst for grassroots environmental action, enabling individuals or small groups to work on meaningful conservation initiatives over a period of 1 to 1.5 years. The grants are flexible in their structure, with financial support ranging from INR 1.5 lakhs to INR 5 lakhs, based on the project’s scope and needs. Funded by Royal Enfield’s CSR initiative, this grant supports diverse forms of community conservation, including biodiversity protection, documentation of traditional knowledge, promotion of sustainable livelihoods (such as agriculture, ecotourism, and crafts), and nature education through books, workshops, and exhibitions. A critical feature of the grant is its emphasis on community participation and benefit. Selected applicants undergo a comprehensive three-stage process, including proposal submission, participation in a 5-day mentoring workshop in Tezpur, and pitching the final proposal to a jury. This initiative ensures that the selected projects are not only impactful but also rooted in local knowledge, culture, and community engagement for long-term sustainability.
Who can Apply?
The Green Hub–Royal Enfield Conservation Grants are open to indigenous youth and Green Hub alumni residing in any of the eight northeastern states of India—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Applicants should either be currently involved in or planning to begin a community-based conservation or social change project in the region. Both individuals and small groups are welcome to apply, provided all members are committed to the project throughout the grant period. Projects must be community-oriented and aligned with conservation themes such as regional biodiversity, sustainable livelihoods, or traditional knowledge preservation. This grant does not support academic or purely research-focused projects. Applicants must hold a valid Bank Account, PAN Card, and Aadhaar Card. The project must be clearly defined in terms of theme and budget (which must be in Indian Rupees), and the funds cannot be transferred or loaned to another party. Priority will be given to projects that reflect strong community participation and measurable social or ecological impact. The grant may be withdrawn if funds are misused or if the project deviates from its proposed objectives. Past applicants and previous cycle participants are welcome to reapply or apply for an extension with an updated proposal.
How to Apply?
Interested applicants must submit a detailed project proposal via the official application form. Shortlisted candidates will attend a 5-day Mentoring Workshop at Green Hub, Tezpur, where they will refine their project and develop a pitch. The final stage involves presenting the proposal to a jury, which will select the grantees. For assistance during the application process, applicants may contact the organizing team directly via the provided phone numbers.
