The Decathlon Foundation, in partnership with La Guilde, has launched the “Sport for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality” programme to empower women and young girls globally. This initiative focuses on leveraging sports and physical activities to improve access to healthcare, life skills development, and rights awareness, while promoting gender equality. The foundation aims to enable women’s leadership, professional integration, and entrepreneurship. These efforts work towards strengthening women’s role as change agents in their communities. The Decathlon Foundation supports initiatives that empower women and girls to take control of their lives, helping them thrive through sports. Additionally, Decathlon employees play an integral role in the projects by actively participating and contributing to the programme’s success through guidance, mentorship, and event organization.

About the Grant

The “Sport for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality” programme offers financial support for initiatives that use sport to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. Projects must take place in one of the eligible countries and aim to improve access to health services, develop life skills, and foster leadership and entrepreneurship. Eligible initiatives will receive funding between €5,000 and €22,000, with a focus on women and young girls. The projects should include sports as a means to tackle vulnerabilities faced by women and girls. Projects must have a total expenditure not exceeding €150,000, excluding valuations. The programme encourages long-term sustainability, and initiatives should extend beyond the 12-month implementation period, continuing to impact communities after the project ends. The selected projects will help women and girls access equal opportunities, improve their well-being, and contribute to social and economic progress.

Who can Apply?

The programme invites not-for-profit charity associations that are legally registered in one of the eligible countries to apply. The applying associations must provide proof of their registration, articles of incorporation, and financial statements. The organisations must be autonomous and free from legal convictions, including corruption, and maintain proper financial reporting. Each association can submit one application per year. Additionally, Decathlon employees, including active teammates, alumni, and partners, can get involved by supporting or guiding the initiatives. The projects should target women and young girls and aim to use sport as a tool for empowerment. Associations must demonstrate long-term engagement with the community, and projects must be aligned with promoting gender equality.

To apply, submit the application electronically with all required documents, including a detailed project proposal, budget, and proof of legal status. Applications must be submitted by the deadline.
