About the Grant

Play for Nature, in collaboration with APRC Mécénat, offers financial and technical assistance to organizations involved in biodiversity conservation projects. This annual grant initiative focuses on preserving endangered species and ecosystems while raising public awareness. The grant supports projects that integrate biodiversity conservation with community education and outreach efforts.

Two categories of projects qualify for funding:

  1. Conservation projects that include monitoring of fauna and flora, scientific research, species reintroduction, and community awareness campaigns through educational programs.
  2. Conservation initiatives that utilize sports as a medium to promote biodiversity protection, using sporting events to engage and educate local populations on environmental issues.

The third call for proposals, specifically supporting biodiversity conservation projects that use sports as an awareness tool, is open from February 1 to March 31, 2025. This initiative aims to empower organizations that creatively use sports to communicate key messages on environmental sustainability. Play for Nature, along with APRC Mécénat, will select five outstanding projects, each receiving a grant of €5,000 to implement their conservation efforts effectively.

Who can Apply?

The grant is open to all NGOs, including those that have previously received funding from Play for Nature. Organizations must submit their proposals afresh, ensuring that all details are clearly outlined.

Eligible projects must integrate sports within a broader biodiversity conservation framework, focusing on education, awareness, and sustainable resource use. The projects can involve:

  • Organizing new or existing sporting events as part of a conservation initiative.
  • Partnering with a sports association to enhance biodiversity conservation efforts.

Projects should be designed to reach a wide audience, including event participants, schoolchildren, local communities, and authorities. Awareness campaigns should emphasize the protection of endangered species and ecosystems while promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Non-eligible projects include:

  • Sports initiatives without a clear biodiversity conservation and awareness component.
  • Routine operational costs and ongoing activities that do not contribute to new conservation efforts.
