About the Grant
The Miller/Packan Film Fund offers financial support for documentaries that address pressing social issues, encouraging filmmakers to create works that resonate widely. Each year, the Fund distributes $200,000 in grants to eight to twelve selected filmmakers, with a focus on projects that have the potential to enact change. Grants, ranging up to $25,000 each, are awarded through an open call process, ensuring diverse voices and stories are represented. Films that educate and inspire are particularly sought after.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and serve as the producer and/or director of the film. The project must be a feature-length documentary, lasting at least 70 minutes, and must address a social issue of significant importance. Additionally, the film should be commercially viable and capable of reaching a broad audience. International projects are accepted, provided they possess global appeal. The project must have IRS 501(c)(3) status or be associated with a Fiscal Sponsor. Non-English language films are welcome if they include English subtitles, but student and completed films are not eligible for funding.
How to Apply?
Interested filmmakers should submit their applications through the Fund’s open call process. Applications will be evaluated by the Rogovy Film Fund staff, and selected projects will be required to acknowledge the Fund in their film credits.
