About the Grant
The IUCN NL Land Acquisition Fund has been a key initiative in protecting the habitats of endangered and vulnerable species for over 25 years. This fund supports local conservation organizations in acquiring land to establish reserves, restore ecosystems, and connect habitats for threatened species. By enabling land protection, the initiative strengthens biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and human well-being.
The fund primarily focuses on areas with high ecological value that are under threat. Through collaborations with local NGOs, the fund has facilitated various conservation efforts, including land purchase, long-term leasing, and other area-based conservation measures. These initiatives ensure that critical ecosystems remain protected from deforestation, urban expansion, and industrial exploitation.
The Land Acquisition Fund is backed by private donors who contribute to safeguarding nature globally. The financial assistance provided by the fund empowers conservation organizations to manage protected areas effectively. By supporting land conservation, the fund helps mitigate climate change, protect wildlife, and sustain natural resources. Through this initiative, IUCN NL aims to create a lasting impact on global biodiversity and ensure that natural habitats remain intact for future generations.
