Call for Grant Applications – International Community Access to Child Health Grant Program 2024
Application Deadline:
13 December 2024
About Organisation
The International Community Access to Child Health (ICATCH) program is a grant initiative by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Global Health (SOGH). With a mission to enhance healthcare for children in underserved regions, ICATCH provides essential funding and mentorship to pediatricians and healthcare providers working in low- and lower-middle-income countries. Through their financial and advisory support, ICATCH enables health workers to develop impactful programs focused on clinical care, health education, and professional training. The program targets sustainable interventions in pediatric healthcare, equipping local health professionals to address critical health issues within their communities. By emphasizing skill development and care for children facing health challenges, ICATCH aligns with AAP’s commitment to advancing child health and wellbeing worldwide. Its projects address significant areas such as physical and developmental disabilities, mental health, newborn health, nutrition, and cardiac conditions, ultimately enhancing pediatric care accessibility and quality.
About the Grant
The ICATCH grants offer funding for projects aiming to improve pediatric healthcare in low-resource settings. With $2,500 per year for three years (a total of $7,500), the grants support healthcare providers in implementing impactful projects across five critical areas: disabilities, mental health, newborn health, nutrition, and care for hospitalized children. Projects may focus on clinical care, health education, or training in pediatric and adolescent healthcare, emphasizing both direct services and knowledge-sharing within the community. ICATCH grants cater specifically to non-research-based initiatives, ensuring hands-on healthcare provision and educational efforts rather than mere data collection or assessments. The grant strongly emphasizes local leadership and collaboration, with project directors required to be based in or near the communities served. Additionally, proposals must demonstrate clear healthcare delivery outcomes, with special consideration given to projects involving comprehensive care for children with congenital or acquired cardiac conditions.
Who can Apply?
The ICATCH grant program is open to non-governmental organizations, community groups, academic institutions, and hospitals in low- or lower-middle-income countries. Eligible applicants include pediatricians and healthcare workers seeking support for healthcare or educational projects focused on children and adolescents. Each organization or community group may submit only one preliminary application, while multiple applications from academic institutions and hospitals are permitted if each project is unique and proposed by different individuals. Projects must provide essential healthcare services or health training in one of five target areas: disabilities, mental health, newborn health, nutrition, or hospital care. The project director should reside in or near the community where the project will take place and bear primary responsibility, although a co-director from outside the community is permissible. Proposals should focus on practical healthcare delivery and avoid research-heavy activities, focusing instead on quality care and education.
How to Apply?
Submit a preliminary application for the ICATCH grant, ensuring the proposal aligns with ICATCH’s specified criteria and service areas. Complete applications will receive full evaluation based on healthcare impact.
Application Deadline
The final deadline for applications is 13 December 2024.
