About Organisation
The Dusty Foot Foundation (DFF) is a not-for-profit organization registered under Section 8 of the Indian Companies Act, 2013. It works to empower youth to become agents of environmental conservation and social transformation through digital technology, education, and skill-building. DFF emphasizes collaboration across sectors—government, civil society, and communities—to scale sustainable impact. Its core aim is to help young people reconnect with their roots by conserving natural resources, traditional knowledge, and sustainable practices, while fostering digital communication and entrepreneurial skills to support ecologically sustainable livelihoods.
Mahashakti Seva Kendra (MSK) is a grassroots organization with over 2,000 community members, primarily women. Originating from its work with survivors of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, MSK has expanded its efforts over three decades to focus on empowering rural and tribal youth, especially from farming and forest-based communities. MSK’s mission is to increase access to rights, strengthen participation in governance, and revive traditional knowledge systems, particularly in sustainable farming. The organization supports youth in aligning with civil society and government bodies to reflect and implement effective policy-driven solutions for community development and farmer welfare.
About the Grant
The Green Hub Central India Fellowship is a 10-month residential video fellowship designed to empower rural and tribal youth from central Indian states through the medium of video and storytelling. The fellowship provides intensive training in video production with a strong focus on environmental conservation, sustainable farming, community-based livelihoods, and social change. Fellows are encouraged to document real-life stories and ecological practices, helping to preserve traditional knowledge and inspire community engagement in sustainable development.
Launched in 2021 in Central India, and originally started in Northeast India in 2015, the Green Hub Fellowship has supported nearly 200 young individuals so far. The initiative is a collaboration between Dusty Foot Foundation and Mahashakti Seva Kendra. It offers a transformative learning experience where fellows develop skills in filmmaking, communication, and advocacy, enabling them to become changemakers within their communities.
The fellowship is rooted in the belief that visual storytelling can be a powerful tool for education, awareness, and action. It aims to build a cadre of environmentally conscious youth leaders who can bridge traditional knowledge systems with modern conservation practices and digital platforms, ultimately contributing to an ecologically secure future.
Who can Apply?
The Green Hub Central India Fellowship is open to youth aged 18 to 35 years, with certain exceptions in extraordinary cases. Applicants must be ordinarily resident in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Gujarat, or West Bengal (Uttar Dinajpur and below). Priority will be given to individuals from tribal communities, rural areas, and economically weaker backgrounds.
Candidates should possess strong communication skills in at least one local language and have a genuine interest in working on themes such as sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, community-based livelihoods, and biodiversity protection. While basic reading and writing skills in Hindi and English are helpful, they are not mandatory. A willingness to commit full-time for 10 months is essential.
The fellowship requires participants to have a moderate level of physical fitness, as they may work in challenging and rural environments. Green Hub encourages applications from both men and women and maintains a strong commitment to gender equality. Applicants must not be affiliated with any political party, formally or informally.
This is an excellent opportunity for young changemakers looking to develop their storytelling and advocacy skills while contributing to the environmental and social well-being of their communities.
