About Organisation
The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) is the regional authority supporting economic development, skills, transport, sustainability and investment across the West of England. Through funding programmes and business support initiatives, WECA helps organisations improve productivity, resilience and environmental performance. The Green Care Home Grants form part of the region’s wider low-carbon support initiatives and are designed to help care and nursing homes reduce energy consumption, utility costs and carbon emissions. The programme supports practical capital improvements while also improving comfort for residents and working conditions for staff. Funding is available to eligible care homes operating within Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
About the Grant
The Green Care Home Grants UK programme provides £1,000 to £15,000 for eligible care and nursing homes to purchase and install energy-efficiency and carbon-reduction equipment. Funding can cover up to 50% of eligible capital costs. Supported improvements may include insulation, energy-efficient glazing, solar photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, LED lighting, heating controls, energy-efficient cooking equipment, air conditioning and mechanical ventilation. Necessary enabling works such as scaffolding and electrical upgrades may also qualify. Projects must be supported by an independent energy or carbon assessment recommending the proposed improvements. The programme aims to reduce utility costs and emissions while improving energy efficiency, comfort and long-term sustainability in care facilities.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants must operate a care or nursing home with a trading address in Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, or South Gloucestershire.
