About Organisation
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN), supported by Internews, is dedicated to improving environmental reporting worldwide. It seeks to build the capacity of journalists and media organizations to produce high-quality, evidence-based stories about critical environmental issues. EJN focuses on amplifying the voices of at-risk communities and promoting cross-sectoral solutions to address pressing global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. Its Asia-Pacific Phase 2 project, generously funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), supports media initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness of these issues and driving actionable change. EJN has a strong history of fostering innovation in environmental journalism through grants, training, and collaborative opportunities.
About the Grant
This grant aims to enhance the quality and quantity of environmental reporting in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on themes such as climate resilience, environmental governance, and the interconnectedness of human, animal, and ecosystem health. Supported activities may include training workshops, story grants, development of innovative tools for journalists, and collaborative reporting projects. The grant supports initiatives that engage marginalized communities and utilize ethical AI in reporting. It seeks to drive positive changes in governance, consumer habits, and awareness of environmental issues, emphasizing sustainability and inclusivity.
Who can Apply?
Media outlets, journalism institutions, and organizations working directly with media in low- and middle-income Asia-Pacific countries can apply. Applicants must legally receive foreign grants and demonstrate a commitment to ethical practices. Civil society groups, community organizations, and research institutions are ineligible. Applications from Pakistan, Central Asia, and the Middle East are not accepted. Proposed activities should align with the program’s goals and contribute to building capacity for high-quality environmental journalism. Organizations must also adhere to professional integrity and avoid improper practices, such as plagiarism or misuse of AI-generated content.

Interested applicants can submit their proposals through the EJN application portal. Applications must include a detailed project plan, budget, and objectives.
