About Organisation
The U.S. Embassy in Gaborone seeks to empower girls in Botswana via waste control projects. Recognizing the full-size role girls play in waste series and the potential to reduce plastic pollutants, the embassy ambitions to support projects that beautify ladies’ talents and financial opportunities within the waste sector.
About the Grant
The Trash to Treasure application offers a $100,000 grant for a 24-month challenge to train and empower women waste collectors in Botswana. The purpose is to decorate their leadership, enterprise, and recycling abilities, growing sustainable livelihoods and decreasing environmental effects.
In line with the WUN Strategic Plan 2023-2026, we encourage proposals that address problems in one or more of the following areas within the context of sustainable development:
- Social justice and human rights; inequality
- Sustainable world: cities and urbanization; energy transitions; water, and food security
- Mental health; child and maternal health; ageing
- Responsible and ethical applications of Artificial Intelligence.
Who can Apply?
Botswana-based registered NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs running immediately with communities can observe. Eligible agencies must strongly commit to:
- Girls’ empowerment
- Community improvement
- Environmental sustainability

Submit a utility using August 30, 2024. Ensure your concept aligns with program objectives and demonstrates clean information on the challenges and opportunities in the waste control region.
