About Organisation
The Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit public-sector enterprise established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. It supports biotechnology innovation and entrepreneurship by providing funding, mentoring and institutional support to startups, researchers and enterprises working to develop products and technologies with commercial and societal value.
About the Grant
The BIRAC Product Commercialization Program (PCP) Fund is designed to address the financial requirements that arise when a biotechnology product has completed its development and validation stages and is ready to move towards the market. While several BIRAC programmes support research, product development and pre-commercialisation, the PCP Fund focuses on the next stage: preparing validated technologies for market launch, conducting testing and validation in target markets, and supporting large-scale commercialisation. The programme is intended for nationally relevant biotechnology products and technologies that have reached at least Technology Readiness Level 7.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants are Indian startups incorporated within the 10-year period specified in the call. The startup must have at least 51% Indian shareholding, with the shareholding pattern certified by a Chartered Accountant or Company Secretary with a valid UDIN. Applicants should have a nationally relevant biotechnology product or technology that has reached TRL 7 or above and is ready for commercialisation. Startups should review the detailed programme requirements and funding conditions before applying.
