About Organisation
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is the UK government department responsible for international development, diplomacy and foreign policy. Through its Global Research and Technology Development programme, the FCDO supports research that can strengthen development policy, improve public services and address evidence gaps in global health and other development priorities.
About the Grant
The SRHR Applied Research Centre funding opportunity seeks to establish a research centre that will generate, synthesise and mobilise evidence on sexual and reproductive health and rights. The centre will focus on improving the delivery, accessibility, quality and sustainability of sexual and reproductive health services across low- and middle-income countries. Its work may cover contraception, maternal and newborn care, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, comprehensive sexuality education, safe abortion care, infertility, cervical cancer and broader sexual-health services. The programme will also support rapid research and advisory work to inform FCDO policy and programming.
Who can Apply?
Applications must be submitted by a consortium consisting of one or two lead organisations and additional co-applying institutions. Lead organisations must be public universities, non-profit research organisations or private universities with a clearly defined non-profit division, legally registered in an eligible country. Other non-profit organisations may participate as consortium members. The proposed research centre is expected to work across at least six diverse low- and middle-income countries, with a recommended consortium size of six to eight organisations.
How to Apply?
Interested institutions should review the updated Call for Expressions of Interest and the accompanying applicant guidance. Consortia must prepare an Expression of Interest outlining their research vision, proposed institutional partnership, governance structure, expertise and expected contribution to sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Applications must be submitted through the Research Commissioning Centre’s SmartSimple grant-management platform. Budgets are not required at the Expression of Interest stage.
