The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is a branch of the United Nations committed to defending human rights globally. Established in 1997, their Indigenous Fellowship Programme empowers Indigenous Peoples with expertise about the UN gadget and mechanisms for protecting human rights, especially those of Indigenous groups.
About the Grant
This fellowship gives a 4-week schooling program in Geneva, Switzerland, equipping Indigenous Peoples with abilities to suggest for his or her groups’ rights on the international degree. The application covers travel, living expenses, and primary medical insurance for selected contributors. It’s provided annually in 5 languages with interpretation.
Who can Apply?
- Indigenous Peoples are eligible to use.
- Age and formal education are not obstacles.
- Applicants need to commit to training others in their groups upon returning.
- Sponsorship and aid from an Indigenous organization are required.
- Fluency in the program language (English, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese) is essential.
