About Organisation
Global Action to End Smoking is a U.S.-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to eliminating smoking worldwide. As the leading cause of preventable deaths, smoking claims over 8 million lives annually. The organization focuses on advancing science-based strategies to address tobacco control and cessation. Key areas of work include Health and Science Research, Cessation Education, and Agricultural Transformation. With a mission rooted in equity, Global Action targets populations disproportionately affected by smoking, such as those in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and marginalized groups in high-income countries (HICs). The organization supports innovative research, dissemination of evidence-based practices, and initiatives tailored to unique contexts globally.
About the Grant
Global Action’s “Ending the Smoking Epidemic by Advancing Global Research for Innovative Smoking Cessation” grant aims to address the scientific gaps in tobacco control. Open for investigator-initiated proposals, it funds interdisciplinary research on traditional smoking cessation methods and newer reduced-risk nicotine products. The grant prioritizes LMICs and marginalized populations in HICs, fostering equitable solutions to end smoking. Proposals should focus on innovative interventions, effective education strategies, health systems improvements, or health economics research. Projects must demonstrate robust methodology, address significant public health gaps, and contribute to global knowledge. Successful applicants must also outline a comprehensive dissemination plan to maximize public health impact.
Who can Apply?
Eligible applicants include research institutions, academic centers, think tanks, and health-focused organizations with expertise in public health, psychology, or related disciplines. Entities must be registered in their country of origin and capable of receiving funds from U.S.-based nonprofits.
