About Organisation
The Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship (FAST-SF) is a collaborative initiative by three prestigious Indian academies: the Indian Academy of Sciences (Bengaluru), the Indian National Science Academy (New Delhi), and the National Academy of Sciences, India (Prayagraj). The aim of this fellowship is to promote the advancement and spread of Science and Technology across specific regions in India. The academies work together to identify, support, and mentor talented students and teachers, fostering research and innovation in various scientific fields. Through the fellowship, participants are given the opportunity to engage in hands-on research with top scientists associated with the academies, thereby contributing to the scientific community and addressing regional challenges.
About the Grant
The FAST-SF is dedicated to promoting Science and Technology by offering fellowships to students and teachers from underrepresented regions, focusing on the North Eastern States, Andaman, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and others. The fellowship aims to engage participants in research projects guided by renowned scientists across India. For 2025, around 200 fellowships will be granted, providing opportunities to collaborate with experts in the field. Selected candidates are expected to work on specific scientific projects, enhancing their skills and understanding of advanced topics. The fellowship covers travel and living expenses, ensuring accessibility and support for participants to fully commit to the program.
Who can Apply?
Students from eligible states pursuing BS, BSc, BE, BTech, MS, MSc, and other related degrees can apply. Specific years of study are specified for different courses, ensuring targeted engagement. Teachers working in the eligible regions are also invited to apply, with no minimum percentage requirement for them. However, students must have an average of 65% or above in core subjects. PhD students are not eligible for this fellowship. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in their field, supported by a write-up detailing their objectives and what they aim to achieve through the fellowship.

Eligible candidates must submit an online application, including academic marks sheets and a write-up on their research goals. Only one application per candidate is allowed.
