About Organisation

Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD) is a global coalition of over 50 leading climate and anti-disinformation organizations dedicated to confronting the growing challenge of climate mis- and disinformation. CAAD integrates policy advocacy, research initiatives, and accountability mechanisms to foster impactful dialogues and actions around climate change. By uniting a broad network of stakeholders, CAAD seeks to dismantle one of the most critical barriers to effective climate action: the intentional spread of false and misleading narratives that obstruct public understanding and cooperation. The organization is committed to empowering communities, supporting data-driven interventions, and promoting accurate information that can catalyze meaningful climate solutions. Through partnerships and initiatives, CAAD aims to build resilience against digital manipulation and ensure that conversations surrounding environmental justice and sustainability are rooted in truth, inclusivity, and equity.

About the Grant

The CAAD Fellowship is designed to support grassroots organizers from the Global South who have encountered the harmful impacts of climate disinformation in their regions. Running from June to December 2025, this program enables selected fellows to conduct localized research and storytelling on specific cases of online climate disinformation. Fellows will benefit from an initial one-week intensive training focused on research methodologies, followed by ongoing mentorship from CAAD’s expert research team and Roots. This unique fellowship blends investigative inquiry with personal narratives, culminating in a research publication to be featured on CAAD and Roots platforms. Fellows will also receive media training to enhance public engagement and visibility. The aim is to amplify authentic, localized voices at a global level, with opportunities to showcase their findings at international platforms like COP30.

Who can Apply?

Applicants should either reside in a Global South country or belong to a diaspora community located in the Global North. The fellowship is intended for individuals who are actively engaged in organizing efforts related to climate change and democratic governance. Previous storytelling experience is essential, though academic credentials are not required. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to exploring climate disinformation in their community, curiosity for research, and the ability to communicate compelling narratives. Applicants must have working proficiency in English and/or Spanish, possess the time to fully engage with the program, and have a willingness to participate in social media engagement to promote their findings. The fellowship particularly values lived experience and personal initiative over formal research experience.
