About Organisation
The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) is dedicated to improving the livelihoods of people in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. ICIMOD fosters regional cooperation and sustainable development through research, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing. By focusing on environmental conservation and community-driven solutions, ICIMOD addresses challenges such as water scarcity and ecosystem degradation. The organization aims to promote resilience in mountain communities and protect their vital resources, like springs, wells, and ponds, which hold cultural, spiritual, and ecological importance.
About the Grant
ICIMOD invites filmmakers to submit short documentary films highlighting the importance of freshwater sources in the HKH region, such as springs, wells, and ponds, and the impact of their loss. The goal is to raise awareness and inspire action for restoring drying springs and protecting vital water sources. Selected filmmakers will receive a USD 2,000 micro-grant to cover production costs. The grant will be disbursed after receiving raw footage and the final video. Films will be promoted by ICIMOD through events, their website, and social media platforms, with encouragement to submit the films to film festivals and media outlets.
