About Organisation

WomenStrong is dedicated to supporting women-led organizations addressing climate and environmental justice in urban and peri-urban areas worldwide. Their mission is to empower women, particularly those who are most affected by climate breakdown and environmental injustice. These organizations are key in mobilizing women to become drivers of local actions for climate and environmental justice. WomenStrong focuses on building a cohort of organizations that integrate gender-responsive and intersectional approaches to tackle the challenges of climate change. They are committed to creating a global network of partners that raise awareness, build movements, and take action to advance climate justice while addressing gender inequality. Their work aligns with the belief that effective strategies for climate and environmental justice must be intersectional, recognizing the interconnectedness of issues like reproductive health, girls’ education, economic security, and gender-based violence.

About the Grant

WomenStrong is seeking women-led organizations focused on climate and environmental justice in urban and peri-urban areas. This grant aims to support organizations that are addressing the intersection of gender and climate challenges and working to mobilize women in their communities. These organizations will be part of the WomenStrong Learning Lab, a platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing among partners. The Learning Lab provides a space for grantees to exchange ideas, strengthen their capacity, and enhance their efforts to tackle climate issues. The focus is on women as both the most affected by climate injustice and as crucial agents of change. The program encourages organizations to address specific issues such as reproductive health, girls’ education, economic security, and violence prevention while contributing to the broader goal of advancing climate and environmental justice through intersectional approaches.

Who can Apply?

This grant is open to women-led organizations working in urban and peri-urban areas on climate and environmental justice. There are no geographic limitations to eligibility.
