About Organisation

UNICEF is the United Nations agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights and wellbeing of every child, with a special focus on the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations. Operating in more than 190 countries and territories, UNICEF works across education, health, nutrition, water and sanitation, child protection, and climate resilience. The organisation plays a critical role in shaping global and national policies to ensure children can survive, thrive, and fulfil their potential, while also addressing emerging challenges such as climate change and environmental sustainability.

About the Grant

The Leading Minds Fellowship on Climate Education is a global UNICEF initiative designed to empower young climate leaders to transform how climate education is delivered worldwide. The fellowship supports youth-led climate education initiatives that prepare children and communities to respond to the climate crisis. Fellows will engage in research, foresight, policy dialogue, and strategic convenings while strengthening and scaling their existing initiatives. Selected fellows may receive grant support of up to USD 20,000 and will join a global cohort working to shape more just, inclusive, and future-ready education systems.

Who can Apply?

The fellowship is open to young people aged 10–30 who are leading or representing a climate education initiative in formal or informal settings. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to climate action, education, and social change. Candidates must be willing to dedicate four to five hours per week from February 2026 to July 2027 and be comfortable working in English; knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage. Initiatives may focus on schools, community learning, policy engagement, digital campaigns, or justice-based climate education.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must submit their application before the deadline through the official application process. Applicants should clearly describe their climate education initiative, its impact, and their role in leading it. Applications are reviewed competitively, and selected fellows will be notified following the evaluation process.
