About the Grant
Ignition Grant 2.0 by Karpagam Innovation and Incubation Council is designed to empower promising innovators, startups, and changemakers from health and basic science sectors. This initiative provides early-stage financial support to individuals and teams with creative and impactful ideas, helping them build functional prototypes. The grant offers funding of up to ₹10 lakhs to selected applicants, providing them with the resources needed to turn concepts into reality. The program encourages participation from a wide range of applicants, including students, faculty members, and rural entrepreneurs, fostering innovation in both academic and community settings. Who can Apply?
Ignition Grant 2.0 is open to a broad spectrum of innovators and professionals committed to making an impact in health and basic sciences. Eligible applicants include early-stage startups that have been operational for less than two years. Applicants must be Indian citizens with valid government-approved proof of nationality and must be at least 18 years old on the date of application. The grant welcomes participation from students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral studies at any AICTE/UGC-approved institutions, provided they possess a novel idea with strong potential for development. Faculty members and staff from educational or training institutions are also encouraged to apply, especially those with projects aligned with research and development objectives. In addition, professionals currently working in industries and individuals from rural areas with social innovation ideas are eligible. This inclusive eligibility criterion is designed to ensure that innovation is not limited by institutional boundaries and that talented individuals from diverse backgrounds are able to access support. The aim is to cultivate a fertile ecosystem for creative problem-solving and social entrepreneurship in India’s vital sectors.
