About Organisation
Korea International Water Week (KIWW) was established in 2016 as a legacy initiative following the 7th World Water Forum. It serves as South Korea’s leading international event focusing on sustainable water management for both humanity and nature. Bringing together global experts, government officials, local authorities, academia, NGOs, businesses, and citizens, KIWW fosters dialogue and collaboration in the water sector. The event is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Daegu Metropolitan City, K-water, and the Korea Environment Corporation, and is organized by the Korea Water Forum. KIWW aims to strengthen Korea’s influence in the global water discourse and promote the international outreach of the country’s water industry. It provides a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, policy innovations, and cutting-edge technologies to tackle pressing water-related challenges across the globe.
About the Grant
The World Water Challenge (WWCH), a flagship initiative of KIWW, is an international competition launched by Korea’s Ministry of Environment and organized by the Korea Water Forum. Initially introduced during the 7th World Water Forum in 2015, the challenge identifies pressing global water issues and invites implementable, innovative solutions. In 2025, the competition continues to act as a global platform for sharing scientific, technological, and policy-based approaches to water-related problems. The competition prioritizes solutions that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and offers global networking opportunities for stakeholders in the water sector. Finalists will present their solutions during KIWW 2025 in Daegu, Korea, with top winners receiving cash prizes and international recognition.
