About the Grant

The UN Tourism Social Innovation Challenge is a global initiative to identify and support startups, scaleups, entrepreneurs, and innovators who are reshaping tourism for a sustainable and inclusive future. Recognizing tourism’s vast economic footprint—accounting for 10.4% of global GDP and 319 million jobs—the challenge seeks innovative solutions to overcome issues such as environmental impact, accessibility, and community empowerment. Participants are invited to propose solutions in three key areas: Community-based Tourism, Inclusivity & Accessibility, and Green Projects. Finalists will gain opportunities to pitch at UN Tourism Tech Adventures, access the UN Tourism Innovation Network, receive mentorship, and explore global visibility. The program’s objectives include fostering innovation, scaling impactful solutions, and sustaining long-term change through collaboration with governments, industries, and civil society. By supporting projects that balance economic growth, social equity, and environmental responsibility, the challenge aims to build a more resilient tourism ecosystem worldwide.
