About Organisation

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) works globally to safeguard the rights of every child, focusing on survival, protection, and development. In India, UNICEF partners with governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector to strengthen health, education, nutrition, water, sanitation, and child protection systems. By addressing structural challenges and advancing equitable solutions, UNICEF India promotes healthier childhoods and builds stronger frameworks for long-term wellbeing. With its evidence-driven approach, UNICEF also supports legal and policy reforms that protect children from harmful practices, including those linked to nutrition, marketing, and consumption habits.

About the Grant

This initiative focuses on restricting the marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages to children and adolescents in India. It involves conducting a comprehensive legal landscape review of existing laws and regulations, with the objective of identifying gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for strengthening policy. The project also emphasizes engaging legal experts, facilitating advocacy platforms, and involving key stakeholders from the government, academia, civil society, and industry. The findings will culminate in a detailed report, offering recommendations to improve policy frameworks and implementation strategies. Ultimately, this effort aims to foster a healthier food environment for children and adolescents by minimizing their exposure to harmful marketing practices.
