About Organisation
The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) works to strengthen resilience by fostering innovation, sharing knowledge, and influencing policy. With a vision of an inclusive world in harmony with nature, GRP supports communities in adapting to change, managing shocks, and transforming sustainably within planetary boundaries.
GRP comprises over 90 partners collaborating toward this vision. It operates through two entities: the GRP Non-Profit Company (GRP NPC) in South Africa and the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) in Sweden. While both units share the same mission, they function as separate legal entities. GRP’s initiatives aim to build resilient communities by leveraging local knowledge, innovation, and partnerships to address pressing global challenges.
About the Grant
The Resilience Innovation through Scaling Entrepreneurship (RISE) Urban Challenge supports innovative urban solutions that enhance resilience in informal settings. GRP seeks to scale early-stage ideas into sustainable, impactful initiatives that address urban challenges such as climate risk, water security, urban migration, and displacement.
The challenge offers winners customized leadership and mentorship programs, communication support, and access to potential investors. Subject matter experts will facilitate leadership training, and winners will receive up to USD 50,000 in funding to scale their projects over 12 months, concluding by December 2026. This round particularly encourages solutions that prioritize women and youth resilience.

The RISE Urban Challenge is open to urban entrepreneurs, innovators, organizations, and consortiums operating in low- and middle-income countries. Eligible applicants include private sector startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), civil society groups, and grassroots organizations.
