About the Grant
National Law University Delhi has introduced a research grant initiative aimed at promoting original and high-impact legal research in India. Under this programme, two annual research grants of ₹5 lakhs each will be awarded to researchers affiliated with Indian academic or research institutions. The initiative welcomes proposals from diverse academic backgrounds, encouraging studies that focus on law, legal institutions, legal culture, and legal policy. Both doctrinal and empirical research methods are accepted, and interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged. Proposals utilizing STEM research methodologies are also welcome, as long as they contribute meaningfully to legal understanding. This grant programme is designed to foster innovation in legal research and to deepen the understanding of the legal ecosystem through a variety of scholarly lenses. The goal is to support research that not only contributes to legal scholarship but also addresses pressing societal and institutional challenges through the lens of law. Each grant will be awarded for a one-year duration, during which the research must be completed. This initiative reflects NLUD’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the foundations of legal knowledge and supporting rigorous academic inquiry that bridges theory and practice in meaningful ways.
Who can Apply?
This research grant is open to Indian citizens currently working in academic or research positions at Indian higher education institutions. This opportunity is particularly suitable for mid-career professionals with a proven track record in research and a commitment to advancing legal and interdisciplinary inquiry.
