By leveraging its expertise and resources, the foundation prioritizes projects that contribute to public safety, education, and diversity. Through its funding, it seeks to empower individuals, particularly those from underserved communities, and build stronger connections between technology, innovation, and safety. The foundation’s giving program is designed to foster lasting impact by supporting organizations that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and measurable outcomes. It is driven by a vision to create a safer, more inclusive world by providing equitable access to resources that help individuals thrive.
About the Grant
The Motorola Solutions Foundation Grant Program supports initiatives focused on two key areas: first responder programs and technology & engineering education. First responder funding is directed toward mental wellness and stress management, leadership development for underrepresented groups, scholarships for families of fallen first responders, and safety preparedness in schools. For technology & engineering education, the foundation supports programs that engage students in hands-on engineering activities, coding, robotics, and scholarship opportunities for underrepresented groups. The foundation emphasizes initiatives that engage participants in ongoing, structured programming and values long-term impact over one-time events. Furthermore, the foundation places a high priority on diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to create opportunities for underrepresented populations, including women, people with disabilities, LGBTQ individuals, veterans, and more. The foundation works to build strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations and educational institutions to ensure the effectiveness of its investments and the sustainability of its programs.
Who can Apply?
Eligible organizations include those operating within the focus areas of first responder support and technology/engineering education, particularly those that work with underserved communities. Applicants must be registered as 501(c)3 organizations, NCES schools, or school districts in the United States or provide completed charitable equivalency forms if based outside the U.S. The foundation prioritizes organizations with robust partnerships and strong financial health. Preference is given to initiatives with structured, ongoing programs rather than one-time events. While organizations may apply for multiple grants, the foundation typically funds only one program per organization. Applications should focus on programs that engage participants over multiple interactions and demonstrate measurable results.
