About Organisation

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia is implementing the FOLUR Indonesia Project to promote sustainable food systems, land use, and landscape restoration. The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by UNDP and FAO in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs. Its work focuses on sustainable production, integrated landscape management, restoration, improved governance, and inclusive economic development. Through initiatives such as the FOLUR Indonesia Low Value Grant, UNDP supports partnerships that strengthen sustainable commodity value chains, improve livelihoods, expand market access, and generate environmental and biodiversity benefits in targeted Indonesian landscapes.

About the Grant

The FOLUR Indonesia Low Value Grant supports public-private and public-private-community partnerships working to strengthen sustainable coffee and palm oil value chains in Central Aceh and Mandailing Natal. The grant aims to improve smallholder livelihoods, market access, sustainable finance, environmental conservation, and biodiversity protection. Priority is given to climate-smart and regenerative agriculture, traceability, digital solutions, community-based restoration, certification, and innovative business models. These Indonesia grants encourage practical partnerships that combine economic development with environmental sustainability and social inclusion, particularly through meaningful opportunities for women and youth in sustainable commodity development.

Who can Apply?

Eligible applicants for the FOLUR Indonesia Low Value Grant include civil society organizations, community-based organizations, private local universities, local research centres, and cooperatives operating in Indonesia. Applicants should generally have at least three years of relevant experience in Indonesia and demonstrate appropriate legal, financial, managerial, and technical capacity. Relevant experience may include forest conservation, natural resource management, rural development, sustainable commodity value chains, smallholder organization, market access, sustainable finance, or sustainability standards. Applicants must also identify at least one private-sector counterpart and provide evidence of the partner’s commitment to participating in the proposed initiative.

How to Apply?

Applicants should prepare a proposal that clearly identifies a challenge affecting the coffee or palm oil value chain in the target landscape and presents a practical solution. The proposal should explain expected benefits for smallholders, women, youth, communities, and the environment. Applicants should also demonstrate technical and institutional capacity, identify a committed private-sector partner, describe implementation activities, and explain how successful approaches could be scaled.
