About the Grant
The Centre for Advanced Research (CAR) grant under ICMR’s Extramural Research Program is aimed at promoting advanced, in-depth research by experienced research teams. It focuses on solving critical healthcare problems, including prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The grant supports both single and multiple linked research projects with measurable deliverables. The program prioritizes research on various communicable and non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis, neurological conditions, and mental health, as well as other health challenges like maternal and child health and the impacts of climate change on health.
Who can Apply?
The CAR grant is open to research teams led by a Principal Investigator (PI) from medical institutes, research institutions, universities, recognized R&D labs, government and semi-government organizations, and NGOs. The team should have a proven track record of expertise and the capacity to address health problems effectively. The PI and Co-Investigators must have relevant experience and skills, with the team having the necessary infrastructure to carry out the proposed research. ICMR scientists are not eligible to apply but may be named as co-investigators without any funding allocation.
How to Apply?
Applications must be submitted online by the Principal Investigator on behalf of the research team. The application should include all required details, including a concept note and relevant documents. Institutions and PIs are encouraged to submit well ahead of the deadline to avoid server issues.
