About Organisation

USAID (United States Agency for International Development) is a government agency responsible for providing foreign assistance and fostering economic development in various sectors globally. The organization aims to promote resilient and sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems in underserved and vulnerable communities. USAID works in collaboration with local and international partners to address water security challenges and enhance climate resilience through innovative solutions. Their focus is on strengthening WASH systems in India and empowering local entities to engage in sustainable development practices. USAID’s Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security’s Center on Water Security, Sanitation and Hygiene (REFS/CW) partners with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the accessibility of safe water and sanitation for marginalized populations.

About the Grant

The Transformative Partnerships for Climate-Resilient Water and Sanitation Initiative, part of USAID’s DiP-WASH (Diversifying Partnerships in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program, aims to strengthen water security and sanitation systems in India. The initiative targets inclusive and resilient WASH systems that align with climate goals. By supporting innovative, evidence-based approaches, this program strives to increase the sustainable management of water and sanitation in vulnerable communities. The grant is designed to facilitate collaboration among diverse organizations, including new, nontraditional, and local actors, to drive systemic change in India’s WASH sector. The goal is to make India a global leader in climate-resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene systems, particularly for underserved populations. The initiative is expected to contribute a total of $6 million over three years to selected projects.
