About Organisation
The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) is a global organization focused on advancing neuroscience research and education, with a strong emphasis on supporting under-resourced regions. Through a network of neuroscience experts and institutions, IBRO works to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and skills development in the field. One of IBRO’s core missions is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in neuroscience by creating opportunities for emerging scientists, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds. By offering training programs, research grants, and mentorship opportunities, IBRO ensures that early-career researchers can access the resources they need to grow professionally and contribute to the global neuroscience community.
About the Grant
The IBRO Neuroscience Training Grants program is designed to support PhD students and early-career postdoctoral fellows by providing financial assistance to attend specialized neuroscience training courses. These grants aim to remove financial barriers, enabling participants to access high-quality education and hands-on training, covering expenses such as course fees, travel, and accommodation. The program specifically targets under-resourced regions to foster an equitable distribution of opportunities. Grant amounts vary by region:
- Africa: 6,000 USD
- Asia-Pacific: 3,000 USD
- Latin America: 6,000 USD
- Pan-Europe: 4,500 USD
- US/Canada: 4,000 USD
Applicants are encouraged to apply for training courses that align with their research focus and career development.
Who can Apply?
The Neuroscience Training Grants are open to PhD students and early-career postdoctoral fellows who are within five years of starting their first postdoctoral fellowship. Eligible applicants must be planning to attend a neuroscience training course scheduled between 1 January and 31 July 2025. Applications from individuals attending an IBRO-supported school are not eligible for this grant, as they must apply directly to the school. Applicants must provide a detailed budget, course description, and an impact statement explaining how the course will benefit their research or career. A reference letter from the current supervisor is also required.
How to Apply?
Create an applicant account and submit your application through the IBRO portal. Ensure you provide all requested documents, including course details, a budget breakdown, and reference letters.
