Climate Futures: South Asia is a program designed to empower the arts sector to take meaningful action against climate change. It supports artists and cultural organizations in South Asia through grants, mentorship, research, and knowledge exchange, aiming to address the climate emergency through creative responses. The initiative is committed to fostering sustainability in the creative industries by building capacity, supporting climate-sensitive practices, and encouraging collaboration between South Asia and the UK. Through its network of artists and cultural organizations, Climate Futures helps bridge the gap between the cultural sector and climate action, enabling impactful initiatives that drive environmental sustainability. It promotes a circular economy, raises climate change awareness, and facilitates innovative approaches to tackling environmental challenges. By combining the power of art with environmental advocacy, Climate Futures seeks to create lasting change in both cultural and climate-related fields.

About the Grant

The Climate Futures: South Asia grant aims to support creative projects that contribute to climate action and sustainability in the arts. Grants of £15,000 are available for artists, cultural organizations, arts venues, festivals, and cultural hubs in South Asia. Proposals should focus on artist-led initiatives that promote knowledge creation, sustainability strategies, or optimizing infrastructure for climate awareness within the arts sector. Eligible projects include visual arts installations, publications on climate change, digital platforms for sustainability, circular economy initiatives, and exhibitions or conferences on climate solutions. Projects can also involve the development of sustainability strategies for creative enterprises, such as carbon emissions audits, recycling schemes, or the creation of green spaces. The grant seeks innovative approaches that use the arts to explore and address climate change, providing impactful solutions to environmental challenges.

Who can Apply?

The Climate Futures grant is open to artists, cultural organizations, performing arts venues, festivals, cultural hubs, and other arts spaces based in South Asia, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Eligible projects should be creative initiatives that contribute to sustainability in the arts and address climate change in an innovative way. Projects can range from artist-led knowledge creation to infrastructural improvements and sustainability strategies. Proposals can also include architectural inputs for sustainable venues, carbon measurement frameworks, and the reimagining of spaces for events like festivals. The grant encourages proposals at any stage, from research and development to implementation. However, all activities must be completed by January 2026, and a project report is required upon completion. Funding bodies are not eligible to apply, and all projects must be realistic, scalable, and impactful.
