About Organisation

The RUNX1 Research Program (RRP) is a dedicated initiative focused on advancing innovative cancer research aimed at developing prevention therapies for RUNX1 familial platelet disorder (RUNX1-FPD), a condition that predisposes individuals to blood cancer. This program not only provides funding but also fosters connections among patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, and stakeholders in the RUNX1 community. Partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer, RRP enhances research efforts, raises awareness, and supports families affected by childhood cancer. Through collaborative endeavors, both organizations aim to catalyze breakthroughs in cancer research, ultimately benefiting those impacted by these devastating diseases.

About the Grant

The RUNX1 Early Career Investigator Program, a collaborative funding opportunity by RRP and ALSF, supports early career researchers focusing on inherited hematologic malignancies, particularly RUNX1-FPD. This three-year grant awards a total of $180,000, with a maximum of $60,000 available per year. The program aims to nurture a new generation of basic and translational scientists dedicated to preventing the progression from pre-malignancy to overt hematologic malignancy in RUNX1-FPD patients. Grant recipients are required to present their findings at an annual scientific meeting, contributing to a collective understanding of the research landscape and encouraging knowledge exchange among peers.
